Dean Ryan Brink

Dean Ryan Brink ~  is an original artist, musician, actor, entertainer and Custom Tattoo Specialist  based out of Southern California.

 

Dean has been a musician and entertainer for 16 years, and has been tattooing for 15 years.  He has won several awards for his custom tattoo artwork, and owns a Custom Tattoo Studio in Big Bear Lake, Ca.  He was born in Newport Beach, Ca and grew up in Huntington Beach, although he moved around quite a bit during his childhood - spending some time in the Midwest. 

 

During his youth, he trained and competed internationally in the Martial Arts of Tae Kwon Do and Kickboxing, winning 16 1st place championships.  His passion for art took him to Houston Tx in the late 90's when he enrolled at the Art Institute of America, and soon after began singing in a rock band called Trippstroke. It is during this time that he opened his first tattoo studio "Permanent Inc.".

 

Dean finally returned to California to persue music, flesh suspensions and custom art full time at the turn of the century.  After having thrown many sucessful shows, touring across the country opening for bands such as Drowning Pool, Genitorturers and Tomahawk, and competing in several Tattoo competitions...he setteled in Big Bear and opened Tat2Xtream Custom Tattoo Studio.  His current band Atropal is in the studio now recording their 1st full length album (Abomination), and plays shows all around Southern California.  You can catch one of their shown if you are in Los Angeles at places  like the world famous Whiskey-A-GoGo, or the infamous Queen Mary.

 

He has appeared on the A&E program "Intervention", hosted the stage at the Ink and Iron Tattoo convention on the Queen Mary, and  still finds time to hang from flesh hooks off cliffs in Mexico.  His first time hanging from hooks was in 2003, and he has been doing it ever since.  The act of suspending from flesh hooks is ritualistic, similar to the Sundance ritual but with modern equipnent and advanced techniques.  His long time friend Chris Glunt introduced him to suspending, and mind over matter tollerance, and they still perform flesh suspensions to this day.

 

His custom tattoo artwork has been featured in many tattoo magazines, such as the cover of Pain magazine and the 2006 International Skin and Ink Calendar Cover.  He has competed in several tattoo competitions, winning awards such as Best Unusual, Best Backpiece,and  Best Large Color.. among others.  Hannah Atchison has also awarded Dean 1st place original color at a Texas tattoo competition in 2002.

 

He loves working out, spending time with his crazy kids and his Vulcan wife who is also a bad ass.
